SOP (Standard Operating Procedures)/ NDMA (National Disaster Management Authority)
School safety has been defined as the creation of safe environments for children starting from their homes to their schools and back. This includes safety from natural hazards of geological/climatic origin, human made risks, transportation and other related emergencies.
The details of what was taught to the children during the drill are as follows:
- The various types of fire safety equipment available in the school were demonstrated and explained on how to use them effectively.
- In case of a fire, students were taught how and from where to turn off the electrical switches to prevent the fire from spreading.
- Instructions were given on how to protect oneself during a fire emergency.
- Students were shown how to proficiently use the exit doors during an emergency.
- Fire extinguishers were demonstrated and explained for putting out fires.
- In case of injury, students were given a demonstration on how to use the first aid kit.
This process proved to be beneficial for both students and teachers.
